Dan Peek's autobiographical account of the genesis and chart-topping career of the band he formed, AMERICA. With a Grammy Award and 21 Gold and Platinum albums, Rolling Stone Magazine called AMERICA, "The band that wrote the soundtrack to the 70's" Hits included "A Horse With No Name", "I Need You", "Lonely People", "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", "Sister Golden Hair", "Daisy Jane" and "Don't Cross the River" later covered by Garth Brooks for his "Scarecrow" and Boxed Set CD's.

The book starts at the beginning, a rags to riches story of 3 Air Force Brats who eventually met in London, England at the height of the "American Invasion" of music. Courted by every Record Label in town, the band chose to sign with Warner Bros. Records and the rest as they say is History. With the release of their acoustic and vocal harmony masterpiece, "A Horse With No Name", the band was catapulted to the top of the music charts worldwide. Their self-titled debut album containing the forementioned single reached the #1 spot on Music Charts around the world. The book is an insider's look at the opulent and sometimes sleazy world of Rock and Roll during the Golden Years of the 70's. Dan's depiction of meeting the A-List Celebrities of the day, including Rod Stewart, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, CSNY, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne as well as Movie Stars Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty among others is a compelling read. With feedback such as "Couldn't put it down till I was finished" and "Now reading it for the 3rd time" are typical of the comments the book has engendered. Legendary Managers David Geffen and Elliot Roberts helped guide them and the soon enlisted the talents of Sir George Martin, known for his work with the Beatles. Sir George produced 5 of the 7 albums the group recorded for Warner Brothers and was instrumental in keeping them at the top of the charts, album after album. The book also chronicles the painful breakup of the band as Dan Peek left to pursue a solo career which resulted in a groundbreaking CCM album, "All Things Are Possible" which garnered a Grammy nomination.

Dan Peek grew up in a Military Family, in postings from Japan to Pakistan, Greenland and England as well as several US States. He began playing piano at age 7, guitar at age 12 and was playing professionally by the age of 15. Dan's career exploded with the formation of AMERICA, the London, England based band which he formed with fellow classmates from the American High School at Watford, England. 2 years later, the band moved to L.A., the epicenter of Show Business and home to the offices of their new management team of Geffen-Roberts. After 10 years in the band, Dan left to pursue a highly successful career in CCM. After another 10 years of recording and performing Dan and his Highschool Sweetheart and wife Catherine moved to the Caribbean. While there Dan continued to write and record songs and began writing his autobiography. He currently has 2 other books "In the Can", both currently not in print, but would be excellent candidates for e-books as they contain a multitude of beautiful color photographs as well as Dan's original artwork, inspired by the Caribbean lifestyle. He and his wife are permanent residents of the British West Indies.
